Care Guide

Natural materials age beautifully — with the right care.

Every Kusaya piece is made from natural materials that develop character over time. Slight changes in color, texture, or patina are not wear — they are the mark of a material that is alive. We encourage you to embrace the way your pieces evolve.

NATURAL WICKER & RATTAN
For: baskets, charger plates, placemats

— Wipe with a soft dry cloth after each use
— Never submerge in water or expose to prolonged moisture
— Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and brittleness
— Dust regularly with a soft brush
— If it gets wet, allow to air dry completely in a ventilated space
— Store in a cool, dry place away from humidity

NATURAL LINEN
For: napkins, table runners, placemats

— Hand wash in cold water or machine wash on gentle cycle
— Use mild, fragrance-free detergent
— Never use bleach or harsh chemicals
— Lay flat or hang to dry — do not tumble dry
— Iron on medium heat while slightly damp for best results
— Linen softens and improves with every wash

ALPACA WOOL
For: alpaca figurine, keychain

— Hand wash only in cold water
— Use a wool-specific or very mild detergent
— Never wring or twist — press gently between towels to remove water
— Reshape carefully and lay flat to dry
— Never hang alpaca wool items — they will stretch
— Store folded, not hung, in a breathable cotton bag

NATURAL FELT
For: coasters

— Spot clean only with a slightly damp cloth
— Do not submerge in water or machine wash
— Allow to air dry completely before using again
— Brush gently with a lint roller to refresh the surface
— Keep away from sharp objects to avoid pulls or tears

CARVED WOOD
For: wooden birds, decorative objects

— Dust with a soft dry cloth
— Apply a small amount of natural wood oil once or twice a year to maintain richness
— Keep away from direct heat sources and prolonged sun exposure
— Avoid contact with water — wipe immediately if it gets wet
— Do not use chemical cleaners or polishes

A NOTE ON NATURAL VARIATION

Because all Kusaya pieces are handmade from natural materials, no two are exactly alike. Variations in color, texture, and grain are intentional — they are what make your piece unique. These are not defects. They are the fingerprint of something made by hand.
